The 5th day of Christmas (morning)

So this morning we finally had a chance to spend time doing our advent calendar devotions that our church sends us every year. It's totally my fault I didn't open it and put it together yet. But now we plan to add our sticker to our tree, read what it's about and each child has their own little advent calendar card to open each day and read the scripture. It's good to be focused on what really matters this time of year. Speaking of which, my little ones are begging to go do more snowflakes so this is short and sweet. :)
But for now I leave you with today's reading.
December 5 - The Sun
...the sun of righteousness shall rise, with healing in its wings... Malachi 4:2
(That's beautiful right?)

You know what's smack dab in the center of our solar system, right? The sun. Now picture Jesus in the center and us as the planets. He is our "sun of righteousness" who keeps our lives revolving around him. Just as the sun gives light and warmth to our planet, Jesus lights our way and warms our lives with his love. What would life on earth be without the sun? Nothing. See why today's sun sticker is such a good Advent symbol?

Notice where you dog or cat sleeps on a sunny winter day. wherever there's a patch of sunlight, that's the napping spot! That's a reminder to us, too, to stay close to the Sun of Righteousness for his warmth.
