The 3rd Day of Christmas
Ok... it has happened already. Shoot. I really wanted to try longer than two days. Ok, so I have some very valid reasons I wasn't able to get the layout done tonight. Lets see my day went something like this. First I should say my husband worked from 7 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. tonight so I was essentially a single mom. We took Jackson to school, came home cleaned up, did a project working on snowflakes. Ava was begging for a craft and I knew I didn't have a lot of time to really get into something so we looked up how to do them (can you believe I kinda forgot) online. The girls loved drawing the designs for me to cut out.
Then needed to wrap a present for my son's friend's birthday party later in the day. It's a half day because of parent teacher conferences. So they were out at 12:15. But that friend's mom said she'd take him home with her. I needed to feed the girls, get them dressed and then head out the door. But before that my Christmas cards I ordered through White House Custom Color came in. I was so excited. I literally uploaded them yesterday. I was really impressed by their customer service and how fast it all happened. It was awesome and the prints look great. This was my first time using them and my first time designing my own Christmas card. I chose their pearl finish and couldn't be happier.
OH.. and some of the elements used here are from the Storybook Dreams kit by Nicole Young. It's from Digital Scrapbook Place. I got the kit from that penscrappers challenge. I actually started making my card before I even did the layout for the challenge. The colors just said.. hmm this could be a cool Christmas card. I drew the house myself and used the frames that are in the adobe photoshop shape menu. I honestly came up with this idea because I didn't have the energy to deal with taking dozens of pictures to try to get one good one of three kids, two adults, and one dog all smiling at the camera. I just wasn't in the mood this year so I decided to put us all in the windows of a house.
Anyway, so that prompted me to want to stop at Michael's to get a burgandy red pen to sign the back of the cards. This was on top of needing to stop at the library to return a book before it's overdue all on the way to the party. So we get to the party with about ten minutes to spare before I have to leave to go to my parent teacher conference for Jackson. One daughter decides to stay at the party while the other chooses to come with me.
The younger one, who stayed, was in hog heaven when I returned with two of the older sisters who were playing with her. Then after the party we needed to pick up some black paint. We're having our house painted a sage/gray color and I'm having the front door and shutters painted black. I'm loving it so far. So I got to the paint store just before they were closing at 5:00.
Traffic was really bad so we got home by 6:00. Ate a quick dinner, got the kids baths. The girls are dying tired so we did our bedtime routine which includes reading and then they were off to slumber land. But Jackson had homework still. So he and I stayed up rather late, him doing his homework and me signing all the cards. I also needed to finish inputting new addresses from new preschool friends this year.
So around the time I finally get Jackson in bed and sit down to start scrapbooking I get sidetracked with the fact that I really should print out all the address labels tonight. But our gloss optimizer is out. Hunt for gloss optimizer. Open the wrong sized one. Find the right one. Get it all working. Need to align everything. Husband comes home. Husband is hungry. Need to feed husband. He had a really rough day at work with a client so demanding he said it bordered on abuse. He worked 9 straight hours holding a 25 pound camera on his shoulder without a five minute rest break or even a chance to eat lunch or dinner. Man. He said the guys working for him were amazed he took all he took from the lady today. He said the reason he did is he's working for her tomorrow and the next day. Poor guy. I hope it gets better tomorrow.
Ok.. so that brings me to now. Considering I'm also feeling pretty loopy tired, it's not a good place to be to start something creative.
SO I apologize there's no layout, but at least there are some photos to highlight our third day of Christmas.. which will eventually get into the layout.
ON tomorrow's schedule. The girls have no school so they get to come with me to the church to help set up for our Women's Christmas Tea. I love this event. This will be the seventh year I've hosted or help host a table. Nearly a thousand women wind up coming to this event. It's awesome and a great way to kick off the Christmas season. Did I say I love it.
Anyway, so tomorrow I still need to clean my silver three-tiered serving tray. Should have done it tonight, but alas, I'm just too tired. Then Jackson is out of school early again. I'm debating on whether I should take the kids to a clinic to go get the H1N1 vaccine. I had been sort of avoiding the whole thing since my pediatrician's office doesn't have them. At first I was also not so worried. But an article written by Dr. Sears that I read today has me feeling like I want to now. I know this is a hot topic and I go back and forth on it. Being in California, people here are much more prone not to vaccinate and you hear a lot of arguments not to. It's the statistics of children who're healthy that have died from H1N1 that make me want to take precautions.
Anyway, so we might be driving a bit to get to a clinic in the afternoon. Hopefully in the evening I'll find some time to scrapbook again, but it might have to wait till the weekend. I'm looking forward to the things we have coming up to enjoy this season. I also must get out our advent calendar. I know we're a little late. But better late than not at all. Happy 3rd day of Christmas.... even though I know this is going to show up on the 4th!
